Purpose Driven Identity
In the biblical story of Abraham, we saw how the delay in the birth of Isaac lead to Sarah suggesting that Abram sleep with her maid. Which eventually lead to the birth of ishmeal.
The birth of Ishmael was planned by the Abraham's first wife, who at that time was known as Sarai. She and her husband Abram (Abraham) sought a way to have children in order to fulfill the Abrahamic covenant that was established in Genesis 15. Sarai was 75 years old and had yet to bear a child. I could imagine the frustration she was going at the time.
You see Abraham was meant to be a father of many nations. But at 86 years he was still without a single child to start that genealogy. Of course such a situation can be unbearable. Imagine this happening in Nigeria for example - where bearing kids are a must for a new family and when no child is coming forth, familiy members will start interfering, wanting to know what's happening? Poke nosing into your family. Even at 40 you won't have peace because everyone will be concerned.
This is a common scenario for many of us. Are you living in that light? Are you under God's purpose for your life or under your own or other people's suggestion because His plans was'nt coming through?.
What you have now or doing now is it part of God's purpose for your life? Are you helping God to fulfil His plans because you think what he want for you and how He wants it done Is too slow or not coming forth?
Most times "waiting is a virtue" - Waiting isn't inactivity, it's actually a time to let God do His part! It's possible you are being successful on the path you chosed but does it align to Gods plan for your life? We all saw how Abraham story went - Ishmeal was separated from Abraham.
Not all Successes are driven by Purpose. Yes! you can be successful but is God in that success? Are you walking on the right path? Are you identifiable with God? Is He calling you by the name of what you indentify yourself with? Today when we pray we say "The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! Not the God of Ishmeal. Not until you align yourself with God's plan for your life you will never be identifiable with Him no matter how successful you are.
So today take the time out and ask yourself that question!
