Chasing God - Living a purposeful life

In order to live a fruitful and successful life, our zeal for God should be equal to our expectations from Him. As He said in His words : “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7 NLT . The following steps will help in getting to chase after Jesus in order to attain a purposeful life.

1. Knowing Christ

Ephesians 3:17–19: “That you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

When you come to this reality, that God is all you need to have your needs met, then the zeal to know him more kick-start!

2. You Are Treasured:

First Peter 2:9–10 shows us that, in Christ, this is now our identity as well. We are God’s treasure. He loves us, not because of what we’ve done but because of who He is.

With this truth in mind, as we look at the current reality of life, and all that went into bringing us here, sometimes what we think, feel, and experience leads us to a different conclusion. Rather than feeling treasured by God, sometimes we feel forgotten. This occurs when we allow our circumstances to dictate how we perceive God.

The circumstances we would typically use as excuses to avoid the sacred chase actually serve as the delivery system for our divine invitation. Now is the time to set aside the excuses, the shame, the laziness, the apathy, the busyness, or even the good things life is often filled with to notice the One who loves and treasures you.

3. Getting To A New Normal

To live a life soaked with heaven, the counterfeits of God’s promises need to go.

Apathy and lack of soul-awareness can distract us. How? They convince us that our experience is as good as it will get. We settle and slow down or even stop our pursuit of God’s reality in our lives.

When we tolerate such inferior ways of living, we adapt to a new normal. What we think is balance can actually be a slow, spiritual fade. Picking up your Bible and reading until peace settles over you, even if it takes an hour or more, is a response to who you truly are.

Be “you” and watch His grace captivate your heart. His goodness will summon you to a better way. And someday a Heaven-soaked life on earth won’t seem that abnormal after all.

4. Who Are You?

Our identity is not who people perceive us to be. It is who God knows us to be (2 Cor. 5:11).
Additionally, our identity is not who we pretend to be. This is why Paul wrote in Galatians 1:10, “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man?”

Who we are is equivalent to who we belong to. As followers of Christ, you and I belong to an amazing Father called God.

There is a reality you must embrace that will take you into your full spiritual inheritance. What is it? God’s love for you is greater than everything else that comes against you. Romans 8:31 says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” You are a child of the Almighty God.

5. No more excuses! Just Say Yes to Chasing God!

In Mark 5 that the Gadarene man knew how important a continual yes to God was. After Jesus was begged by the townspeople to leave the region and was on his way out of town, the man asked Jesus if he could go with Him. All the Gadarene wanted was to be near Jesus.

Yet the man didn’t hear the words “Come and follow me.” Instead, Jesus said something that seems terribly cold and insincere. Jesus told the man to “go home” (Mark 5:19).

The Gadarene man never became a well-known figure in church history. We don’t even know his name. Why? Jesus simply instructed him to go home. Well, he did so, and his continual yes undoubtedly produced just as much positive change as the disciples’ yes did.

Your simple yes to begin, continue, and finish your chase will as well.. Start Now! Say Yes!
