The Sheperd, The Journey And Character
Life as a journey could be challenging without direction or challenging with direction. It all depends on whose lead we follow - when God is your Sheperd the journey becomes directed at the desired destination.
I know you are probably thinking why "Challenging" in both scenarios? Isn't it possible to have a smooth scale? Well, the truth is no journey is easy - but your perception and attitude towards it could make it less stressful.
In order to have an interesting journey it's important we chose our sheperd - whose lead we follow. When we rely on God's lead we are sure to have a successful trip to our destination. It doesn't mean the ride will be smooth but the desired goal will be achieved.
But why Him?
To get the best from any device or appliance it's pertinent that we follow the user's manual from the manufacturer don't we? That's why we need to follow God's lead on life journey because He is the creator and He knows best. The Shepherd knows the journey, we the sheep don't!
Sometimes the sheep gets to a stumbling block and all they think about is to divert, or give up, but the sheperd encourages them and show them the right way..
The sheep sometimes gets distracted along the way when they see a place of little hope, fun and relaxation. They get lost in ther selfish interest and they stop over to chill and feast thinking that's the destination. But the sheperd says to them, that's not yours - it's short lived, you will cry soon.
No matter how difficult the journey is, how long it might take if you are being lead by the God you are on the right track.
Sometimes the length of the journey is for your personal growth and development to handle what's coming your way (James 1:1-19). Other times the length is determined by your obedience to His leadership (Exodus 13:17-17:16).
When God is the sheperd of your journey you are bound to make it to the desired end (Jeremiah 29:11).
So instead of complaining, start celebrating! God is using the journey to work on your character.There's a CHARACTER for the HIGHER GROUND. And not until you have it. The Sheperd is not stopping.
How many of you remember the journey of the Isrealites. A journey of 40 days took them 40 years right? You see, God isn't going to take a bunch of disobedient children into the promise land. He used the journey to work on their character.
The length of the journey is determined by your obedience to His directives;
- The more you listen and adhere to His word, the better for you.
- The faster your character development the better for you.
Because in all, God isn't interested in what you will become, but in Who You Are!!!
CHARACTER is the Key to the Sheperd's heart.
